Amelia River Waterfront Park

Commissioned Proposal

The Waterfront Park for The City of Fernandina Beach CRA (Community Redevelopment Area) in collaboration with Zev Cohen. A coordination of proposed program elements, landscape design, history, entertainment and community interests.

An early design proposal as reported in the the local newspaper The News Leader. It represented the public input received through community charrettes. As a co-principal with Rice Architect I had opportunity to co-lead community charrettes which were hosted in coordination with The City of Fernandina Beach and the Nassau County Chamber of Commerce.

Process documents used by team members Lane Development, Carter & Slope, The City of Fernandina Beach and others for discussing grant funding and marina changes. The documents reflect our discussions and coordination with The St. Johns River Management and the Florida DEP (Department of Environmental Protection), community leaders, city attorneys and private land owners.

A "big-house" concept design. Each single standing structure is four residential units with two larger 3-story units at 2,700 sf and two smaller 2-story units at 1,900 sf. Cape Sound is described as a "walk-able development" featuring front elevation garden pathways and back of structure access for automobiles and services.
